Mietta's Review
Grand and spacious setting with high ceilings and beautifully proportioned windows. Try and book a seat next to one and enjoy the carpeted hush well away from the sounds of gaming. The restaurant has recently been refurbished giving the heritage space a glamourous up-to-date feeling. Service is attentive and the food arrives quickly. East meets West menu, some elements were tantalisingly good. In 06 mains averages $28.

Gourmet Traveller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide "The refined calm of Marco Polo is a world away from the busy casino below, with restful, muted tones, plush carpets and lots of wood paneling. An indulgent menu, helpful sommelier and lengthy wine list make this a favourite of those who appreciate the silver style of service"

Courier Mail Lizzie Loel, 10-6-2008 Score: Food: 15 Wine: 15 Service: 15 Ambience: 15 "high above the clatter of the card tables and clinking pokies is a calm oasis called Marco Polo. ... Once in the foyer of the restaurant you can turn two ways - a smaller dining room to the left, behind which is the martini bar and the main area, which is much larger. This is furnished with comfortable armchairs in subtle, earthy tones and is off to the right. We were seated next to a long sash window overlooking the courtyard of the new Brisbane City Council building while a courteous and formal waiter attended to our liquid requirements. ... Marco Polo is a consummate experience and one that rarely dips in quality. With such a vast space and relatively quiet, albeit attentive wait staff, the larger room lacks a little in character and ambience which is not evident in the smaller dining area."

Brisbane Times Score: 13/20 "The imposing sandstone pile of the colonial-era Treasury Building looks fabulous, bathed in candy-coloured lights on the cusp of the river at night"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 16.5/20, Two Hats "This is elegant dining at its best. It hasn't always been so, and it is exciting to see Marco Polo revisit the high points of its history"

Gourmet Traveller 2008 Australian Restaurant Guide "From the dimly lit bar to the comfortable, upholstered dining chairs and the lavish Versace plates on the well-spaced tables, Marco Polo, upstairs in the heritage-listed surrounds of the Treasury Casino, is a statement in contemporary elegance"

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2007 "Inspired by the travels of Marco Polo, this most stylish of restaurants has found the right fit with chef John Offenhauser, who has worked across the globe"

Gourmet Traveller 2007 Australian Restaurant Guide "Opulence and grandeur meet you head-on at Marco Polo. Highly organised wait-staff make you their sole focus the minute you enter the lavish dining room. The spot-on Asian sensibilities of chef Stephen Suen's menu might include buffalo carpaccio and glass-noodle salad with coriander and chilli-lime dressing, or juicy salt-and-pepper prawns astride saffron pinkeye puree."

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 2006 ** "On the second floor of the Conrad Treasury building, Marco Polo, the signature restaurant, has recently been renovated to make the most of its high ceilings. Soft browns and creams create a classic look"

Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide "As you glide through Marco Polo's smoky martini bar under the etched glass-framed arches and on to the two opulent dining rooms, you can't help but succumb to the 007 vibe."

Brisbane News Eating Out Guide 2006 "Take the gold lift to the casino's second floor to explore a new level of dining pleasure. In this recently revamped dining room, with its dramatic high ceilings, and decor of muted creams and browns"

Courier-Mail Goodlife Restaurant Guide 05 ** "This signature restaurant of the Conrad Treasury Hotel and Casino is located above the sea of one-armed bandits on the ground floor. Make for the gold lifts and bead up to this newly refurbished space with a chic bar attached."

Gourmet Traveller Australian Restaurant Guide 2005 "The signature restaurant of the Treasury Casino has recently undergone a makeover, closing down for several months and emerging revitalised and looking resplendent in muted cafe-au-lait hues. The cellar is displayed behind a glass wall in the entrance, the main dining room is off to the right and another more intimate space runs the length of a corridor en route to the cosy little bar."

Brisbane News Dining Out Guide 2004 "A thoughtful refurb has given this fine diner a contemporary feel, yet still in keeping with its heritage-listed surrounds."
