Gourmet Traveller 2013 Australian Restaurant Guide Score: Stars "There's a retro feel to this hotel fine-diner, with a dry-ice finale to dessert and sometimes over-ambitious flavour combinations - teaming fresh parsley with tea-poached pear, say"

Gourmet Traveller 2012 Australian Restaurant Guide "Encased in glass, this graceful, softly lit and mostly black dining room provides respite from the bustle of hotel lobby activity and Central Station below. A sense of calm also permeates Mathieu Astier's succinct menu, yet some gentle boundary-pushing is going on, too"
Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2011 Score: 15.5/20, One Star "Stylish and sexy. Prive 249 is screened off from the rest of the hotel and has a sense of seclusion with a decor of muted earthy colours and luxe textures"
Gourmet Traveller 2011 Australian Restaurant Guide "Prive 249 breaks most preconceptions of both a fine-diner and a hotel restaurant. There are no starched cloths or sniffy staff. In their place are black-glass-topped tables and a chandelier casting a soft glow over the dining room and its buzzing wait-staff"
Courier Mail Lizzie Loel, October 12, 2009 Score: Food: 15.5 Wine: 15.5 Service: 16 Ambience: 15 "Seating about 50 in salubrious surrounds, etched cutlery in gleaming gold and pewter sits a little awkwardly on the highly polished black glass tabletops, due to the clash of two hard surfaces. It's all very Parisian-swank with stemware and other appointments understated and elegant, including chandeliers subtly encased in semi see-through cylindrical sheaths."
Courier Mail Tony Harper, October 07, 2009 Score: Food 8 Wine 7 Service 8.5 Ambience 8.5 "The accent is decidedly French (French chef, French wait-staff and even a "bonjour" from the front desk when they answer the phone), and the design is distinctly fresh and contemporary. The small Prive 249 dining room is discreetly curtained off from the bar, foyer and larger buffet restaurant"
