Mietta's Review
One of the most famous views in the world with casual al fresco dining for a pre-theatre snack, or simply to while away a few hours on a sunny afternoon. Reasonably priced (for the location) mixed menu and a decent wine list with all wines available for the glass. Be careful with the service, especially if you are racing against time for a curtain at the Opera House: it can sometimes be a little challenging for the waiters to look so cool and actually serve to a deadline.

Other published opinions

Sydney Eats 2008 "It's hard for any food, by any chef, to compete with this front-row view of Sydney harbour. Chef Christopher White knows the best strategy is not to compete, so the menu changes every six weeks, but the quality and value remain"

Sydney Eats 2006 "With one of the best locations in the world, you only need to dish some half-decent snacks and you've got it made. Opera Bar does much more, with an excellent all-day menu"

Sydney Eats 2005 "Figuring quality, value and location, this is just about the best of the bistros around the Opera House. Hope for one of the understandably popular outdoor tables and start with something from the excellent bar (long praised in this guide's regular bar features). The food, from snacks to full meals, is also consistently strong."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Best Bars "in the evening's first blush, with the water on one side and the Opera House's sails on the other, it can't be beat."

Sydney Eats 2005 Best Bars "Amid a sea of pleasant places to drink at East Circular Quay, this is still our pick. For the complete harbourside drinking experience, get here before sunset and try for an outdoor seat."

SMH GFG 2004,'At its al fresco best in summer, when drinkers can sit outside under the shadow of the Opera House listening to live music, the buzz of the Sydney Opera House punters coming and going, and the hum of the ferries below.Wet.'
