Perhaps not, if Infusion's anything to go by. In many ways, this place defies expectations" Sydney Eats 2008 "Here's an attractive downtown surprise - a smart room with interesting pan-Asian food just made for sharing" Sydney Morning Herald Olivia Collings, 13-2-2006 "On a balmy Friday night, tables and chairs filled by local office workers spill out onto the sidewalk, while inside rowdy crowds happily drink away between games of pool and keen viewing of the sport on the plasma screens. The music is loud and the vibe is busy - crazy busy. Large groups of blokey mates and gal pals dot the area, both letting down their hair and scoping potential partners. While the sports bar downstairs is all about drinking the night away in a relaxed environment, the heaving upstairs lounge area is filled with energetic dancing." Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 12/20 "A magnet for city suits, the 333 complex at the western end of Martin Place boasts (downstairs) an up-market pub with pool tables and loud music and (upstairs) a cocktail bar and restaurant with huge red pillars for a colour accent to the monotone room." Sydney Eats 2006 "Set in a smart old-fashioned space, Infusion offers a share menu of mainly pan-Asian dishes that taste as good as they read on the page. Rock up with a bunch" SMH Good Food Guide 2005 14/20 "From outside it looks like a two-storey glass box, from the ground floor it looks like a bar with pool tables, and from the upstairs dining room there are views over a narrow square. We'll admit to being wary of the pan-Asian concept, where chefs try to excel in centuries-old cuisines from several nations at once, but Infusion nearly pulls it off." Sydney Eats 2005 "It's rare to find smart pan-Asian cuisine in the CBD but here in this retro mezzanine space, you can have a business lunch that gets right away from the Mod Oz and Italian that dominate this part of town. Dishes are perfect for sharing, with larger-than-usual portions." SMH, good living, 13/1/04, Keith Austin,' this is a perfect corporate lunch spot;not too expensive to break the bank but costly enough that your company doesn't look like a cheapskate. And the food is mostly good.' SMH, good living, 16/12/03, Kate Duthie,'darker, cosier, and more pubby, with TV's, a long stone bar, heaps of banquettes and plenty of seating at tables and chairs, high counters and stools.Upstairs it's a much more loungey and cool affair.Another long bar backs the room and there are gorgeous leather-look couches, plenty of armchairs and low counters for groups...It has festive booze-up written all over it.' |
