Mietta's Review
A grand Victorian building beautifully restored houses the Arthouse Hotel's four bars and grand dining room, Dome. Verge bar on the ground floor has soaring ceiling that look gently down on the occasionally frantic (particularly on Friday nights) performance at the bar below. Dome now has a relaxed smoke free lounge while the dining room itself is a long high ceilinged space complete with a central dome and stencilled borders. The food is businesslike and reasonably priced. But it's the place that matters most. Above is the Attic a cool cocktail bar.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13/20 "The ever-changing art on the walls and the eclectic blend of old and new are a pleasant reminder of the ArtHouse Hotel's origins"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 14/20 "Mount the stairs of the beautifully restored nineteenth-century ArtHouse Hotel, past notices about life-drawing classes, through the lounge area, cleverly divided by bookshelves, past the changing art exhibition on the walls and into the restaurant proper, complete with pianist playing everything from soft background music to contemporary discord."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 12/20 "Since it opened in late 2001 the ArtHouse has become one of the city's busiest drinking holes, with Dome offering a sophisticated respite from the ground floor's occasional mayhem. A predinner drink in the upstairs lounge, reclining on minkcoloured suites, is a good curtain opener before entering the impressive dining room with its heritage paintwork, bentwood chairs and eponymous domed roof."

SMH GFG 2004, Score 13/20, And-fabulous bar downstairs,'The room is all sky-high ceilings (and a dome), bistro chairs and ever-changing art on the walls. The real masterpieces, however, are on the plate.'
