Mietta's Review
A good place for basic, bare essentials cheap Japanese. The decor is not much, it's pretty noisy, but come for a big variety of dishes - everything from sushi to shabu shabu. The 10 varieties of lunch boxes are also excellent value.

SBS Eating Guide to Sydney 2005 "Asakusa offers an amazing variety: a range of sushi, an a la carte menu plus noodles, dinner boxes, party menus and vegetarian dishes. Japanese friends like the fact that the food is fresh and healthy and love to come during winter to share hotpot dishes"

Or perhaps ...

Asakusa (02) 9519 8530, 119 King St, Newtown - A good place for basic, bare essentials cheap Japanese with basic decor but good value food.

Hikaru (02) 9516 5959, 134-140 King St, Newtown - A most attractive setting with an excellent sushi and sashimi menu as well as the basic Japanese standbys.
