Mietta's Review
A charming traditional Japanese restaurant set in a simple shopfront. Good food, particularly the kaiseki (a selection of five dishes $38) which is much in demand. Reasonable a la carte ad sushi selection. The very polite service can be slow when busy. Main courses $22-$24.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13/20 "A mini Japanese banquet for $40 a head is quite an offering. Whether you're a Mino or a Goshu (adventurous or not-quite-as) menu type, the easiest eating in this narrow, beige-and-plum space is kaiseki-style meaning a seasonal series of balanced tastes, with chef Nakoji's gently Japanese 'fusion' overtones"

Sydney Eats 2008 "The exterior of the building might be plain, but Mino is a very stylish, modern restaurant serving anything but plain food"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "It's a plainish space in that pinky-beige Japanese aesthetic, with yellow-cream walls relieved by dark-wood boxes framing vases and ceramics. The austerity doesn't run to the menu, though, with a great-value (especially weeknights) approach to the kaiseki philosophy of several small tastes, balanced by flavour and texture."

Sydney Eats 2006 "Mino continues to deliver stylish Japanese cuisine in an equally stylish setting, deservedly building up a following of loyal regulars. The sushi and sashimi are the perennial menu favourites, though there are plenty of other choices."

SBS Eating Guide to Sydney 2005 "Even though an entree, main and dessert menu is offered, the best way to eat here is to order the kaiseki banquet which, as producer Mika Nishimura advises, 'will allow you to appreciate a variety of delicate food in small quantities'. She really enjoys the choices here and the very reasonable prices."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 14/20 "To describe kaiseki as a set banquet is like calling yum cha brunch. Basically, it's a harmonious balance of dishes, flavours, utensils and presentation, here served as five small courses, including dessert. Mino is justly popular, the menu changing monthly but most dishes are also available a la carte."

Sydney Eats 2005 "For serene dining it has to be Japanese, of course, and Mino delivers in style with a tranquil atmosphere and endearing hospitality. Owner/chef Takaaki Nakoj pitches straight to the connoisseurs with an elaborate menu that includes Japanese-style degustation"

SMH GFG 2004,Score 14/20,'looks typically suburban, but go in and discover classy Japanese food with just a hint of fusion'
