Mietta's Review
The restaurant is in a snug two little rooms, quite smart, though can be noisy, with butcher paper-covered tables. One room, the quieter one is non-smoking. The smoking room has a window onto Flinders and is a good place to watch the Mardi Gras parade. Upstairs are some hip pool table areas inhabited by cool types. The Palace has a relaxed and good environment and serves a nice rag pasta with duck. Other favourites include duck liver parfait and fish in paper with wine and fresh herbs. Salads are good and the service pleasant.

Other published opinions

Sydney Morning Herald Kate Duthie, 20-10-2005 "I've been told The Palace has recently done a reno job upstairs, creating a smart new lounge bar, which is the reason for our visit. On this Thursday night it's shut, however, apparently due to a lack of interest, since the main bar is also near-deserted. To be fair, the location (in the fork of two main roads) is hardly ideal for walk-in traffic - but this bar is a cracker and I'd encourage others to seek it out. Resembling a larger version of the Burdekin Hotel's Dug Out Bar, it's a gorgeous, deco-style affair, tiled in beige and black from floor to ceiling for easy hosing, with a solid, lovely old central bar and plenty of room to sit or stand. Lucky for us, Thursday night is half-price cocktail night."
