Mietta's Review
French style Bistro offering regulars and passers-by no nonsense food and service. Things are done well here and the service is young, efficient and friendly. Try the steak and chips with a red wine butter, it won't disappoint. One of the better late supper options in town. Can be noisy as the youngish clientele clamour for the bargain priced dishes.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13/20 "Onde may be the perfect neighbourhood restaurant: cheerful, open every night, and serving the same delicious dishes year after year"

Sydney Eats 2008 "The no-bookings policy at Onde means you have to wait at the bar and ogle the young, hip and occasionally famous while you wait for a table"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "If the measure of a neighbourhood eatery is the return clientele, Onde is undoubtedly a success. With its white walls and huge glass window onto Liverpool Street, it's a pleasing bistro space, albeit incredibly noisy (sometimes uncomfortably so)."

Sydney Eats 2006 "What more can we say about this outstanding French bistro-style restaurant, a former Bent Fork winner? The tiny dining room is abuzz with activity from the minute the doors are flung open. Desperados in need of a seat sip furtively at the cosy bar, and who can blame them for waiting?"

SBS Eating Guide to Sydney 2005 " 'One of the best and most reliable restaurants of its kind,' says Martin( Baboin. 'It is one of our favourites for an early family dinner. While the ment doesn't change very much, that can be good as you can look forward to youi favourites.' "

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 14/20 "It took us by surprise when we spied the chairs stacked outside our favourite bistro. We'd heard that owner, chef and bringer of good fare, Laif Etournaud, had moved away, so we were stoked to find that nothing much has changed at the coalface. Mind you, the pine floors have been buffed, the bistro chairs are brand-new and the banquette has been reupholstered. But the blackboard menu remains as refreshingly constant as ever, still written by the now absentee landlord, Etournaud."

Sydney Eats 2005 "This outstanding example of French bistro-style cooking, a former Bent Fork winner, well deserves its enduring success. Grab a drink at the small bar, wait for a table and enjoy a simple but truly great meal."

SMH GFG 2004,Score 14/20,'There's a lot of waiting. For this, for that, for a table please (they don't take bookings and at weekends, three times as many people want to squeeze into this slip of a restaurant)...With patience comes happiness...modern-day classic.'

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, 1 Black Star,'The French-inspired food is consistently good and unpretentious...Portions are generous and Onde certainly gives excellent value for money...the atmosphere is buzzy and the staff are efficient...The wine list is small but appropriate'

Australian Table, March 2003,'this French provincial bistro is so popular that even during the week there's invariably a wait at the bar'
