Mietta's Review
Bright, airy, stylish and quintessentially Sydney, Bill Granger's flagship now does dinner. Lunch (and breakfast) have become essential eating for the smart Darlo set. The move into dinners is carefully priced with mains under $30. The dishes are simple but well judged. The food does not shock or dazzle, tastes do not explode - they just are. Be prepared to wait a bit for a seat and for your food - a restaurant that has been this good and this chic for this long is justifiably crowded. Beginning to look a bit like a chain bills is also at at 359 Crown Street, Surry Hills, 9360 4762 and Queen's Court 118 Queen Street Woollahra , 9328 7997.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13/20 "This legendary breakfast spot has a new look. But don't panic, the scrambled eggs and ricotta hot cakes still start the day"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "At night, happy diners are drawn to Bill Granger's light, bright corner of otherwise dark and offbeat Darlo like moths to his fame. Or maybe it's the schnitzel. They could cook this food at home - and probably have - but a pilgrimage to the source has its own rewards."

Sydney Eats 2006 "The bills empire is ever-expanding, with outposts now in Surry Hills and Woollahra, and even here at the original, there is change afoot. Having established himself king of breakfast eggs $11.80 Bill Granger has now made a move on dinner."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 13/20 "No matter that the name behind this iconic cafe, Bill Granger, has scarcely been sighted on the floor of his eponymous premises since focaccia was the Eastern Suburbs' vogue bread. Sun-kissed bills still feels as vibrant as the day it was born, remaining one of a handful of places proud Sydneysiders can safely show off to overseas friends."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Best Breakfast "this place is still one of Sydney's finest morning stops"

The Age AGFG 2005 "Breakfast is the thinking person's meal, all ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter and the town's best sweetcorn fritters"

Sydney Eats 2005 "For more than a decade Bill Granger's been the brekky king, so rather than change any of the fab favourites sunrise (fruit juice and yoghurt) $3.80, exceptional scrambled eggs $10.50, ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter and banana $15, and corn fritters with roast tomato, spinach and bacon $15.50 - they've opened Sundays."

Daily Telgraph NSW Restaurant Guide 2004, This busy, sunny, corner cafe in Darlinghurst beckons everyone from mums and dads with kids in strollers to assorted celebrities.

SMH GFG 2004, Score 13/20, No bookings, And-go early to avoid the queues,'With his fresh, sunny approach to food, restauranteur Bill Granger and his eponymous eateries have become instutions...While the service can be slightly offhand, and the flavours have dulled down the past couple of years, the queue outside just keeps getting longer.'

Gourmet Traveller Guide 2004-one black star for casual dining, details updated, simple things done well, still people queuing for a seat.
