Mietta's Review
A narrow shopfront - two tables wide - with banquets down both bare brick walls and an open kitchen livening up the back of the room qre what greets the diner here. A simple setting - linen with white paper overlays - and careful service prepare you for well cooked dishes with finely balanced flavours at prices that are well below the competition.

Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2009 Queensland Score: 14/20 "Nestled in the heart of Byron Bay's busy main street. Olivo is a comfortable, sophisticated corridor restaurant, a world away from the noisy, busy pub across the road"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 12.5/20 "Round-shouldered mice would be comfortable in this narrow space crowded with linentopped tables, a cream banquette stretching the length of an exposed brick wall that's seen better days and a wellstocked Hollywood bar"

Courier Mail food and wine guide Queensland 2008 Score: 14/20 "Warm and inviting, Olivo is a long narrow-fronted restaurant with incandescent lighting and brick walls, where the daily specials are written up on mirrors"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 12.5/20 "There's a lot to like about this long, skinny, stylishly informal diner with its extensive banquette and earthy tones"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "The warm and bustling vibe is just like you find in a busy bistro in provincial France. In the narrow, low-key space with its crisply set tables, flattering lighting and long banquettes framing the small bar, everyone mingles happily while enthusiastically tucking into Mediterranean-inspired cooking."

SMH GFG 2004,Score 13/20,'This groovy establishment in Byron's main drag is a markedly big notch up in the town's casual eating stakes.Tight black t-shirts cling to lithe waiters as they dispense witty quips and preficient service down the catwalk of the wafer-thin room...5-or-so entrees, and mains, most with a mod-Med or faintly Francophile feel.'
