Mietta's Review
Smashingly worked over pub, all deco pastels, chrome and glass. Great bars, cute little outdoor area and lots of super-loud music. The eating section, the Classic Bar & Diner, is a quieter part of this laid back scene allowing Big Brother type glimpses over your entree of the young clientele at play. Simple pub menu, competently done at expected prices and served by obliging staff.

Sydney Morning Herald Tim Elliott, 2-9-2008 "HOW things change. The Eastern Hotel used to be the old Bondi Junction Hotel, the kind of place where the bouncer advised you upon entering that patrons were expected to fight on the premises and if you hadn't started some kind of action within 10 minutes you'd be out on your ear. Today, the Eastern is the kind of place where Jeremy and Amanda from Saatchi meet to share a Cosmo after winding up the Chanel pitch"

SMH Keith Austin 31/5/06 " the Classic Bar & Diner at the newly revamped Eastern pub in Bondi Junction. The art deco interior evokes the game by harking back to the elegant days of art deco - the old pub was firmly in that tradition - while having a distinct 21st-century feel. Entering from the Westfield there are surprises in store. First, the rear entrance, decorated with small square tiles of pale green with a mother-of-pearl sheen, looks alarmingly like the entrance to a urinal."

SMH Good Living 1/3/05 Kate Duthie "I'm here to check the newest bar in the east, appropriately named the Eastern Hotel, a super-swish multi-levelled bar and restaurant complex resurrected from a stinky old boozer and part of the new Westfield complex. It's a huge place with a refreshingly original refit and decor, stairwells aplenty and a stylish use of glass, chrome and mirrors."
