Other published opinions

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 14/20 "With its Bondi bold and casual decor and helpful staff, this cafe-by-day, serious-dinerbynight may be the pick of beachside bliss. A large blackboard displays a panMediterranean menu with a healthy respect for fresh produce"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13.5/20 "New owners Neil and Lianne Gottheiner have stuck to the successful theme of their predecessors (chocolate walls, minimal quirky decor, blackboard menu and signature fish pie) at this comfy, funky, neighbourhood bistro"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 14/20 "How sweet it is here in the backblocks of Bondi, where the cool-cat crew who used to run a similarly named clifttop cafe confirm their deservedly high reputation. Brown Sugar's fabled fish pie is the subject of local gossip and is pure indulgence: snapper fillets, caramelised onions, cream and leeks (braised in sauvignon blanc, no less) crowned in golden-brown pastry."

Sydney Eats 2006 "This funky, crimson-floored bistro - a newer sibling to Brown Sugar, the nearby daytime cafe - considers itself a restaurant. A chocolate feature wall displays the artwork of one of the owners: wheels of cheerful appliqued discs of daisy-like flowers surround a faux window of colour-filled jam jars."

SMH Good Living Eat Up Keith Austin 14/9/04 "The interior of this simple, colourful restaurant is packed when we lob up unannounced. Luckily, it being a little on the nippy side, the big communal table outside is vacant. Brown Sugar Nights is an offshoot of the everpopular Brown Sugar cafe over in North Bondi and, as at its namesake, the food is high-quality stuff done well but not too up itself."
