Mietta's Review
Back a few streets from Bondi beach, Blue orange, offers dinners a chance to relax in the modern but cosy dining room. The menu is fusion all the way, with some interesting dishes emerging from chef, Shane Lurie's, kitchen. The wine list is is compact with some good choices by the glass.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "By day, it's a cafe for 'a big fat breakfast' (aka The Lot), souffled pancakes or a lunch of chargrills, salads and wraps. At night, things turn slinky with serious food. Lounge on the cocoa-coloured suede banquette and admire the low cork ceilings with glinting copper wreaths around pendant lights, and wide- planked timber walls."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 14/20 "Rob Sample (think Longrain, jimmy liks) strikes again, fitting out Blue Orange, tucked away up a busy street, a couple of blocks back from the beach. It's a timber-lined box, made to look the goods with long, low, padded bench seats and even lower lighting. Best of all, there's Shane Lurie's food - a sensitive compilation that doesn't do anything it shouldn't and achieves even more than expected"

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Best Mortgage Relief "the straight-up food from Shane Lune, which is priced perfectly well, barely getting above $25 a main"

Sydney Eats 2005 "Blue Orange in name, no longer in nature. Gone are the blue banquettes and orange stools, replaced with classic lines in wood with taupe furnishings, cork ceilings and smoked mirrors. It's cool, all right. And the food remains the same"

SMH,good living, 25/5/04,Matthew Evans, Score 14/20,'A timber lined box in Bondi's Hall Street is a feelgood cafe by day and mod-oz bistro by night.Shane Lurie's flavours are beguiling and true, the mood casual but upbeat.'
