Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 "We wait for every summer, not so much for the beach but for the amazing things George Pompei can do with fresh mango, white nectarine, peach and any other sunshiny flavour he finds"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 "It's hardly a secret - which is why it's always so crazily crowded - but there's not much that beats the skinny, toasty discs made in authentic Italian style by the Pompei's team"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 13/20 "At George Pompeis popular corner eatery, the queue is often long. Children and prams almost outnumber adults, and both the floor and kitchen are pushed to their limits, especially around 6pm on weekends"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 13/20 "If the world as you knew it was coming to an end, you could do worse than eat your last meal at Pompei's - your final indulgence would be a perfect pizza crust, house-made pasta and lashings of exceptional gelato."

Sydney Eats 2006 "First come the families with young kids, then come the older crowd, then it's time for the grown-up kids to pop in at the witching hour for a terrific pizza. There are 27 on the list"

SMH Good Living 22/1/05 David Dale "When we arrive on this hot Saturday night, the little place on a corner just off Campbell Parade is surging with life, and there's a queue outside. By a miracle, a big party leaves quickly and nine of us squeeze into two tables along a banquette. Out of 10: Food 9, Thin-crust pizza, luscious gelato and pleasant surprises from an unexploited region of Italy. Atmosphere 8, Lots of people, lots of noise, lots of fun. Service 8, Calm amid customer chaos. Value 8, Pizzas around $18, pasta from $8 to $18, gelato at $4.80 a scoop, which only seems pricey before you taste it."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Best Gelati "Regulars get in a lather of anticipation waiting on seasonal favourites, especially fig or green apple."

Sydney Eats 2005 "Be prepared - hell, be proud - to wait for a table and enjoy an authentic pizza followed by a gelato at this popular joint."

VE+T, March April 2003,'dishing up some of the best pizza and ice cream in town...Toppings are simple, classic, prepared fresh daily, of great integrity and faithful to Italy's regional cuisine.'
