Mietta's Review
One of Sydney's best situations. Imagine a hot afternoon sitting under an enormous fig tree gazing over Balmoral baths and straight out to the Sydney Harbour heads. There's something utterly relaxing about dining here maybe it's the contrast between the perfectly starched white tablecloths, gleaming glassware and the Mum struggling past towing a sand encrusted urchin and a baby clutching a melted icy pole. Everyone is addicted to the Watermarket Asian antipasto. A brilliant idea - an assortment of gourmet dim sum, steamed oysters and Chinese greeens served in a basket. It's the view through vast windows, inventive cuisine and good service without the inner-city attitude.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 Score: 13/20 "Daytime dining at Watermark s always going to be a highlight. After all, it sits right on one of Sydney's prettiest beaches. There are appealing brekkie options before the full menu kicks in from lunchtime"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2008 Score: 14/20 "Glistening water, majestic Moreton Bay figs and one of the city's most beautiful beaches are just some of Balmoral's rich assets"

Sydney Eats 2008 "When we used to swim in the Balmoral baths and eat pies and pasties at the kiosk, never did we dream of such a remarkable place as Watermark - which grew out of that grotty kiosk"

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2007 Score: 14/20 "Waves lap at the shore as the giant trees sway gently in the breeze. The only other sound is the murmur of quiet conversation - most likely discussing this enviable location. Sail through the uncomplicated menu, which embraces an Asian influence that works well with the rest of the Euro-Med-centric fare."

Sydney Eats 2006 "A sleek room on the site of what used to be the kiosk for the swimming pool over which you gaze as you graze on accomplished chef Kenneth Leung's sometimes startlingly original take on that old warhorse, mod oz."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 14/20 Good Wine List "Once you're inside this bright waterside diner, with its gorgeous views of Middle Harbour, the outside world ceases to matter. Beaming young staff flit hither, lapping serviettes and explaining the several-page menu in amazing detail. Kenneth Leung's dishes sing with freshness"

Sydney Eats 2005 "The other Balmoral biggie, this one with self-styled fusion chef and co-owner Kenneth Leung presiding over the woks and pans. Summer breakfast out on the terrace overlooking the pool is one of Sydney's great experiences."

SMH GFG 2004,Score 14/20,Good wine list,'Here is Sydney at its most languorous and spectacular on a wistful summer day.A high-watermark beachside at Balmoral and unobstructed views of the crowd sunbathing and yachts rolling on the Middle Harbour swell. And the formal,white-jacketed service lives up to the dreamy setting. There's a strong Asian taste to the menu'

Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide Australia 2004, Good vegatarian options,'The food is modern Australian with strong Asian influences...The wine list is predominately Australian and has a good selection available by the glass.Service is warm and practised.'
